Sacred Place, Holy Wild: Talks and Teachings

“The world will be saved by the Western Woman.”

Henry David Thoreau:  “In wildness is the preservation of the world.”

Yes. And in women is the preservation of wildness.

Return to the Sacred

(Of Mystery, Place and Dumpsters)

My experiences across the globe, along with my book, New Mexico’s Sanctuaries, Retreats and Sacred Places, serve as inspiration as we explore the meaning of sacred place from ancient voices to present day; from the concentrated power of shrines & sanctuaries to the temples of wilderness. Whether the solemn expanse of Mt. Kilimanjaro or grey whales rising from Baja birthing lagoons, a small personal altar in the bedroom or a special tree, this 60-minute conversation will serve to bring the sacred home.

Enchant & Bedazzle…the art of hearing voices

Is the voice that inspires the whisper of muse or the call of soul? Does it really matter? This ½ day focuses on how to create a sacred space for the unknown to drop in; seduce the voice that speaks to your core.  It’s all about soulcraft, the transformation of spiritual interiors into creation, with special attention to the seasonal and internal cycles.

Soulscape

Your Tool Kit to Inner Truth

The Soul creates the conditions through which She needs to evolve, calling us to unprecedented levels of courage and risk. This is the starting point as we journey terra infirma and the potent confluence of personal and planetary soul.  This day will delve into women’s calling in planetary survival, the integral role of the wild and of familiars, spiritual interiors, hagiography,* dark side maneuvers and how to dance beyond despair. Let this one day vision quest clarify and loose the tethers that bind.

*The original meaning of the word ‘hag’ in Gaelic referred to a saint with great powers who was responsible for the land, waters and people.

These offerings are available individually or can be combined into a weekend.

Writing the Wild

A dynamic day of teachings, muse and metaphor topped off with a venture into wild country to practice our craft.   The day will include examinations of the spiritual interior of language, nature as metaphor (from tree snag to above timberline), the writer’s call to negotiate darkness, fierce acts and holy witness.

It is earth that guides the pen.  It is nature that speaks to us, through us, and tells us her stories.  We need only take our place and still ourselves with a reverent ear.
